Scorpions Scorpiones
The scorpion collection at the Natural History Museum in Basel initially contained a worldwide mix of specimens. The majority came from Europe (Switzerland, Italy, France). This changed as a result of two projects in the 1970s and 1990s (Saudi Arabia, Oman).
The type collection of scorpions at the Natural History Museum in Basel therefore consists mainly of animals from Saudi Arabia and Oman. The main collectors were William Büttiker (Saudi Arabia) and Graeme Lowe (Oman).
The type collection includes a total of 226 entries of 49 taxa.
