SNAPSHOT PHOTO CONTEST - NOW IT'S THE JURY'S TURN!
Between 13 October 2025 and 22 February 2026, we received over 1,150 entries from amateur photographers. The public vote for the best photo closed on 22 March. We are now eagerly awaiting the jury’s announcement, the naming of the public’s favourite and the presentation of the Biodiversity Prize: join us in celebrating on Thursday, 16 April 2026.
For the Snapshot competition an independent jury selects ten images from each of the three categories and awards the podium places. Perhaps yours is going to be one of them and, with a bit of luck, you could win a fantastic prize from the Fotohaus Basel.
Three photographs with a focus on biodiversity are honoured by IWB. After a pre-selection by our external expert jury, an IWB committee selects the winning images. All images submitted for the photo competition will enter the race for the Public Prize. Here, the audience decides what they like: the photo with the most clicks wins through online voting.
Only amateur photographers were eligible to enter the competition. They were allowed to submit one image in each of the categories «Plants | Landscapes | Natural phenomena», «Animal portraits | Animals in their habitat | Animal behaviour» and «Children see nature» (children aged 5 to 12).
The Snapshot photo competition takes place as part of the Wildlife Photographer of the Year special exhibition.
