PLANT COLLECTIONS

This often under-estimated and little-known collection at the Natural History Museum Basel features plants from the late Triassic period from the 'Neuewelt' in Münchenstein (Baselland) and key parts of the specimen collections from the pioneering work of Oswald Heer.

The Natural History Museum Basel also has a small, well-documented and curated collection of silicified wood fossils from the Pliocene gravels of the Vosges region. Alongside a collection of leaves from the rocks of the Swiss Tertiary period, the Natural History Museum Basel also holds specimens from all over the world.
