Cave Bear
A model of a cave bear from the Swiss Jura region has been welcoming visitors to the Natural History Museum in Basel since the 1960s. The reconstruction of this extinct Ice Age mammal is closely linked to the museum. The cave bear therefore holds great emotional significance, helps to define the museum’s identity and will also be displayed in the new location.
However, some restauration work must be done before it can be put on display again. There are also plans to fix up and redesign the cave that will serve as its new home. This work requires time, delicate handling and financial resources.
Your donation will help restore the Natural History Museum’s cave bear to its former glory and will ensure that it remains a defining centrepiece of the new museum and a source of inspiration for future generations.
