The Natural History Museum Basel is a treasure trove of natural history specimens. Some are millions of years old; others are extremely rare or exceptionally well-preserved. What all these treasures have in common is that they reveal fascinating stories that provide us with a better understanding of nature.

To ensure that future generations also have access to these unique natural artefacts for their research and educational work, they must be expertly preserved and carefully maintained.

Over the years, however, the ravages of time take their toll, meaning that individual objects or groups of objects require careful and costly restoration. In addition, the demands on our educational work are constantly increasing, placing us under financial strain.

Financial contributions to the museum are made through the Foundation for the Promotion of the Natural History Museum Basel. According to the applicable legal provisions, you can claim your donation as a tax deduction. For donations of CHF 50 or more, we will send a donation receipt by February of the following year.
