CAMEL SPIDERS Solifugae

The Natural History Museum Basel has only 27 samples of camel spiders from the 19th and early 20th century. Two samples from Mozambique were studied by Ehrenfried Schenkel.

Camel spiders are a small order of arachnids with only around 1,100 known species. Their powerful, forward-pointing mouthparts very impressive. Camel spiders can grow up to 7 cm in length. They mostly live in desert areas of tropical or sub-tropical regions.
