The Flies

Flies – usually we find them annoying, disgusting pests. But do you know why flies can walk on the ceiling? Or what a tsetse fly is? Can you find truffles with flies?

The exhibition answered these and many other questions. The exhibition, created by the Neuchâtel Natural History Museum, invited visitors to reconsider their opinion of flies.

Accompanied by the sum of thousands of living flies, the visitors entered the exhibition. The sight of a carcass decomposed by fly maggots probably left no one unimpressed. However, it illustrated the extraordinary importance of flies in the ecosystem. Visitors learned how mosquitoes transmit diseases and which different species can be found among flies.
